Egwu Oku

Project Brief

Egwu Oku brings together rhythm, visual storytelling, and sustainable craftsmanship in one dynamic piece as part of my artistic explorations, the sculpted lamp echoes patterns and motifs drawn from traditional African instruments, translating ancestral beats into a glowing form. Swarovski crystals are integrated into the composition to reflect light and movement, symbolising ancestral voices echoing through time. Made with a commitment to circular design, Egwu Oku uses recycled components to shape an object that embodies cultural expression while modelling ecological responsibility.

Cultural Narratives in Three Dimensions

Egwu Oku is a visual representation of African musical heritage, channeling rhythmic shapes and motifs into its sculpted form. The lamp’s silhouette and carvings evoke traditional percussive instruments, turning patterns of sound into a piece of art that lights up—not only physically but emotionally.

Swarovski-Enhanced Illumination

Embedded Swarovski crystals catch and play with the lamp’s glow, creating dynamic refractions and shimmering highlights. Each crystal dot acts as a mini‑signal of light—an echo of ancestral storytelling—turning the lamp from a functional object into a sensory experience that bridges tradition and innovation.

Material Innovation with Eco Intention

The lamp’s body is crafted from recycled metal components, bio-resin, and upcycled elements—reinforcing Stanley’s commitment to circular economy practices. Its design avoids traditional resource-intensive materials, offering a sustainable alternative while preserving the aesthetic depth and ceremonial presence of sculptural lighting.
